Nikon Corp posted a nice animation along with interviews (more coming up soon I guess) on how they approach the design of a camera.
Quite interesting! Now I have a better grasp on why Nikon designs such amazing cameras and lenses in terms of features, functions and ergonomics!
The molded hand grip, finger indentations, and soft rubber covering materials are all there just like other camera manufacturers.
But Nikon has stuck with the use of a large number of mechanical controls rather than an abundance of button-and-wheel-based controls.
Of course, Nikon cameras have those too, but nowhere near as many as does Canon.
And man, do they look stunning or what?!?!

Designer Yu Chen introduces the Nikon Coolpix 360, a camera that features a bobbing, 360-degree rotatable lens.
Plus, the camera also includes a microSD card slot and a motion sensor to maintain proper screen orientation.
Many more cool concepts here.

Countdown has started! Lee Brimelow is a Platform Evangelist at Adobe focusing on the Flash, Flex, and AIR developer communities and is confirmed that Adobe will be officially announcing CS4 - aka Stonehenge - on September 23rd.
“That’s right we will be officially announcing the 4th version of the Creative Suite on September 23rd. Now before you get the wrong idea, this is NOT the release date but rather our official unveiling of it.
You can register to view a special web broadcast that will take place on the 23rd.
I highly recommend you check it out if you want to learn more. Get plenty of sleep now as you will have more new toys than you’ll know what to do with very soon.”
It is also being reported that Photoshop CS4 will have GPU acceleration, meaning that it would be able to leverage the extremely powerful processor.
This is really big news and could lead to very big performance gains for large computations like filters and screen rendering. No news on how the lack of a 64-bit flavor of Photoshop for the OS X platform will affect this development.
Wait and see!

A big thank you to the 10,000 visitors (yeap, 10K) who stopped by in August!
DigitalFreak is a growing bigger and at a rather fast pace according to the stats from Google Analytics…
Same month last year, we only scored 869 visitors. In August of 2008 we are breaking the 10,000 mark!
If my math is good, that’s a 1,150% growth in just one year!
Since the main goal of the DigitalFreak is to create an online repository of all that’s related to Apple, Nikon and the digital revolution, I’ll keep bringing the news, reviews, tips and tricks from a more practical point of view, that’s for sure!
So see you in one year to check where things are…

The infamous Adobe Photoshop Express (PSX), is still in “beta”, will rebranded simply as Photoshop.com
With the rebranding in September will come a new upload feature for smartphones including the iPhone…
“The Adobe Photoshop.com Mobile app won’t allow users to edit photos directly on their smartphones, but will allow users to upload their photos directly to their Photoshop.com accounts from their phones directly after the photos have been taken. “
Clearly, Adobe wants a piece of the big Flickr cake and the online photo gallery business!
Let’s hope they will strike a deal with an amazing online printing/book publishing company (like Blurp) to integrate a book printing module both in PSX and in Lightroom 2!
Apple already offers such module in Aperture 2.0 and I have to say, I can’t wait for LR2 to have such a cool feature…
Wait and see, but they have a long road ahead of them!
