If you are wondering how a fashion photographer works, here is the digital workflow Patrick Lavoie uses.

Patrick is not a fashion photographer. He is a “photo retoucher” for high-end fashion photographers.

He is the magician behind every amazing photo the photographer took, enhancing, editing, etc.

With an education in photography from Cégep du Vieux-Montréal, Patrick Lavoie has put his knowledge of the image to work as Art Director and designer for BOHA design agency in Montreal for several years.

His diverse background has led him toward a specialization in photo retouching, digital darkroom and fine art printing.

Chances are, you can’t afford similar services so as a photographer, I encourage you to read how he works as he discusses his unique digital workflow process tailored to meet the needs of his professional career.

This article also includes the set of software and tools he prefers to use, and goals he accomplishes with his digital workflow.

“My job is to make sure everything is under control, backed up, and retouched before delivery. I work with many different fashion photographers, and all of them during the day rely on my expertise to create a workflow that works for them and for me—a workflow that is easy, reliable, and effective so the photographer can quickly see anything he needs to approve over my shoulder.”

You’ll be glad to read that he works with a MacBook Pro and an iMac as workstations running CS3 and Lightroom!
