Oosah or the 1TB Free Backup Solution

September 20th, 2008 by Xof

You must remember the post I wrote not so long ago about Mozy Home and how it would backup ALL your data on a remote, encrypted server right?

Well, while Mozy is still working its way out of beta (the only reason I haven’t subcribed yet) there is another solution out there that sounds very promising… Oosah.

Oosah is also in beta but offers 1TB (yeah, that’s 1 TeraByte) of FREE storage!

“Oosah is a Web-based digital media content hosting and management system. Oosah provides individuals and businesses with an all-in-one service for uploading, hosting, managing and sharing their digital media assets.

Members can also use Oosah to create new media assets in the form of multimedia presentations that we call “oosahs.”

No strings attached… Oosah is full web-based, meaning, you can access it using your iPhone.

You have sharing options but you can also “connect” to your favorite online accounts like Flickr, Facebook, Picasa, etc.

They even let you print your photos at full resolution on your local printer!!

Oosah has a number of features you won’t find on other Web-based content hosting sites.

These include:

  • A fully Web-based file management system that lets you create file folders, and file folder hierarchies, just like you can do on your desktop system.
  • A desktop-like look and feel for the Oosah service, including use of standard drag-and-drop, and keyboard commands for performing Oosah operations.
  • The ability to upload content to Oosah in almost any digital format. Oosah accepts virtually all digital photo formats, including raw, uncompressed formats from individual camera vendors, as well as standard compressed file formats (e.g., JPG/JPEG). Oosah also accepts .avi, .mpg, .wmv video formats.
  • The ability to upload content directly from your capture device (e.g., digital camera or cell phone) to Oosah, without having to transfer it to a PC or Mac first. (Of course, you can transfer it onto a PC or Mac, and then to Oosah if you want to.)
• More sharing options than almost any other site, including email, RSS, linking/embedding, SMS, podcasting, and even downloading and burning to CD/DVD, and local high resolution printing of photos.

Oosah is emphatically not a file sharing site; it is a user-generated content hosting, management, and sharing site.

When you put your content on Oosah it is only available for others to see if you make it public. If you set it as ‘private,’ only you can see it.

Even content that you make public can only be viewed by others, they can’t download it, or otherwise gain access to it, except to view it on Oosah.

Pretty sweet!!
