Do Not Join Adobe Photoshop Express Until

March 31st, 2008 by Xof

At least until they update their TOS - check Point 8. Use of Your Content :

“Adobe does not claim ownership of Your Content.

However, with respect to Your Content that you submit or make available for inclusion on publicly accessible areas of the Services, you grant Adobe a worldwide, royalty-free, nonexclusive, perpetual, irrevocable, and fully sublicensable license to use, distribute, derive revenue or other remuneration from, reproduce, modify, adapt, publish, translate, publicly perform and publicly display such Content (in whole or in part) and to incorporate such Content into other Materials or works in any format or medium now known or later developed.

In other words: uploading photos to the Photoshop Express site gives Adobe the right to do whatever it wants with them!

This is totally UNACCEPTABLE!!

Fortunately, it seems they will be revising this point ASAP!

“We’ve heard your concerns about the terms of service for Photoshop Express beta.

We reviewed the terms in context of your comments - and we agree that it currently implies things we would never do with the content.

Therefore, our legal team is making it a priority to post revised terms that are more appropriate for Photoshop Express users.

We will alert you once we have posted new terms.

Thank you for your feedback on Photoshop Express beta and we appreciate your input.”

Let’s wait and see, but in the meantime, DO NOT upload any more photos!!! No need to delete them as one can assume they have backups of the content…

Wordpress 2.5 is Out!

March 30th, 2008 by Xof

Wow!!! This is a major update!! Coming from 2.3.3 to 2.5 is definitely major!!

New Admin interface, seems faster,

“WordPress 2.5, the culmination of six months of work by the WordPress community, people just like you. The improvements in 2.5 are numerous, and almost entirely a result of your feedback: multi-file uploading, one-click plugin upgrades, built-in galleries, customizable dashboard, salted passwords and cookie encryption, media library, a WYSIWYG that doesn’t mess with your code, concurrent post editing protection, full-screen writing, and search that covers posts and pages.”

So far, only the Video plugin that I use doesn’t work so be patient if you can’t watch the YouTube vids posted on Digital Freak, I am sure an update will come up soon!

The new interface is really nice. I recommend everyone upgrade!

Comments Bug

March 28th, 2008 by Xof

Special thanks goes to my buddy Matt who noticed that there was a bug when submitting a comment!

It seems that my “simple  math anti-spam plugin” was actually preventing the comments from being submitted… It’s now fixed and the comments are open!

Fire away!!

Aperture 2.1 Update - For Those How Care

March 28th, 2008 by Xof

Just a little over a month after releasing V2.0, Apple is releasing a minor 2.1 update today… That’s if you still care about Aperture!

The update includes an open plug-in architecture that makes it easy for photographers to use specialized third party imaging software right from within Aperture.

“Available today as a free software update, Aperture 2.1 includes the Apple-developed plug-in, Dodge & Burn, which adds brush-based tools for dodge (lighten), burn (darken), contrast, saturation, sharpen and blur.

Over the coming months, third party software developers will deliver image editing plug-ins for localized editing, filters and effects, noise analysis and reduction, fisheye lens correction and more.”

Like I said before, Apple came on market with the V2.0 update a bit too late! Many of my fellow photographers decided to switch to Adobe Lightroom and I don’t see any changing their entire digital workflow to try Aperture…

Not only Adobe provides more frequent updates for Lightroom, it’s also very easy to find free presets and other ressources!

Let me know what you think and if you are more Aperture or Lightroom!!

If you feel like giving it a try, it’s right here!

Yellowstone Morning Glory Pool

March 28th, 2008 by Xof

morning_glory_pool5056.JPG

Yellowstone is a “must go” National Park. Not only is it a photographer’s dream in terms of taking amazing photos, but it’s also a unique ecosystem.

Yes folks, Yellowstone National Park is the centerpiece of the 20 million acre/31,250 square-mile (8,093,712 ha/80,937 km²) Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem, a region that includes Grand Teton National Park, adjacent National Forests and expansive wilderness areas in those forests.

The ecosystem is the largest remaining continuous stretch of mostly undeveloped pristine land in the United States outside of Alaska and is considered to be the world’s largest intact ecosystem in the northern temperate zone.

Photoshop Express

I last talked about Photoshop Express last September but it’s just little over a year ago that the (big) news came out… A Photoshop Online!

This morning, the Adobe Photoshop Express  Beta version is available to everybody!!

The look and feel is very close to Lightroom I think and the user interface is definitely inspired by iPhoto (read simple to use).
