American Memory
“Photograph of Ambrose E. Burnside Union general who served under McClellan at Antietam and was directly responsible for the failure to pursue Lee. Involved at Battle of the Wilderness Spotsylvania”
I heard about the Missouri’s digital archives of African American portraits before.
And I know there was an African American portraits archive in Florida.
Even the Black Archives of Mid-America and the Missouri’s archives, with a specific section for the African American community in northeast Missouri.
Or the Bancroft Library from California, with a special section dedicated to the 1906 San Francisco earthquake and fire.
Now it’s Michigan’s turn with their History, Arts and Libraries digital collections.
All these different projects are meant to keep the American memory in good shape!
