Mozy Home - The Back Up Solution

If like me you are obsessive compulsive when it comes to backuping your photos, you’ll like this one! MOZY

MOZY is a great way to backup your data (photos, docs, music, movies, etc.) for a very reasonable dirt cheap price - FREE up to 2GB or UNLIMITED for just $4.95/month.

That’s less than $60/year and you know you spend more on various back up solution that are less than perfect!

Mozy comes with a 448-bit Blowfish encryption to secures your files while in storage, providing peace of mind that your private data is safe from hackers.

mozy appTo start you backup, simply install the Mozy Application and check the boxes next to the backup sets, or types of files you want to back up, and MozyHome does the rest.

In addition to selecting files by backup sets, you also have the option of selecting specific files and directories.

You can also schedule the times to back up and MozyHome does the rest.

MozyHome finds and saves the smallest changes and thanks to a Block-level incremental backup: After the initial backup, MozyHome only backs up files that have been added or changed, making subsequent backups lightning fast.

Doing backups is good but restoring is really what’s important because if you have to restore from yo backup, it means something seriously wrong happened!

Well, it’s pretty damn simple…

You can either use the Mozy Application to restore all or just a small number of files in the event of accidental loss, deletion, or corruption.

But let’s say, like me, you plan to back up 60GB or more… Then, ordering a copy of your data on DVD is the best option if you are restoring several GBs worth of files or just don’t want the long download time you may encounter when trying to restore large files via the web.

Of course, there is an additional processing and shipping fee when ordering a DVD restore, but all your files are copied onto one or more DVDs and then shipped via FedEx Next Day delivery. BRILLIANT!

Last but not least, you’re on the run or limited access to Internet and need some files…

I suggest you use Web Restore! Web restores are best suited to users that do not have the MozyHome client installed on the computer they are restoring to and/or the amount of data restored is less than 20 GB.

Mozy is scalable since they have a Pro edition for small businesses to large corporations.
