Context Links Advertisment

When it comes to monetizing your website/blog, Google AdSense pops up at the first place. Tho it’s a great way to earn some money, it’s not the only way (as you would have noticed by visiting DigitalFreak).

A few days ago, Amazon released Context Links Beta. This morning, I got the announcement by email. Context Links are a quick and convenient way to add links to your blog/website and help you monetize your content.

Context Links automatically identify and link relevant phrases within your blog content to Amazon products. All you need to do is have an Amazon Associates account (it’s free) and to embed a piece of code on your page, one time, and automatically monetize future content.

After you embed one simple piece of code on your page, Context Links will identify and link contextually relevant phrases within your content to Amazon.com products.

This saves you the time from having to manually create Text Links.

But Amazon is not the only one offering text link ads…

Tho Amazon Context Links Beta is a great alternative to Text Link Ads, TLA’s affiliate program allows you earn $25 for every publisher or advertiser that you refer to their website (in order to qualify for a payment, a publisher you refer must install an advertising script on their website for the minimum period of seven days)!

But it’s true that Amazon has a higher brand awareness. People know and trust Amazon.com and they are not afraid of shopping with Amazon. That’s probably why they don’t need to pay for referrals…

If you are already using TLA, I suggest you read this great article on how to increase your TLA commissions.

If you aren’t, I suggest you register since it’s free ;)

If your website delivers over 500,000 page views per month, you will qualify for IntelliTXT media campaigns. I am not quite there yet, so I am pretty happy that Amazon is launching its own context links advertisement. Now the question is, “should I monetize my blog?

If you have mixed feelings about monetizing your blog, then sort out those feelings first. If you think monetizing your site is wonderful, fine. If you think it’s evil, fine.

To create an article takes some effort, most mature people understand it’s reasonable for a blogger to earn income from his/her work. I think that my audience tends to be very mature ;)

Here is a non-exhaustive list of partners/programs to help you monetize your content :

As you can see there are many ways to make some money off of your website/blog. If you wanna learn more on how to make money from the content you generate, I recommend this article by Steve Pavlina.

Not only is it very well written, but the man knows what he is talking about… He generates around $40,000/month through his website! Quite an inspiration!!

Monetizing your website is cool, and being able to generate a little income from it is great… However there’s a point where you have to stop putting in anything extra because it detracts from the actual content of the site and your blog / website / whatever turns into one big ad..

The only thing that bugs me about this site, with all the ads and what not in, is that I have to scroll down so far to get to the ‘Digital Freak Forum” link to go check the forums..

More people should be checking in on the forums and getting involved…..spam your forum address on SG or something..lol..

PS. If you ever work out how to make the ‘Categories’ bit not show, or atleast not show so large, then let me know cause my blog is building up this jokingly large list of categories as well…and my coding sucks..hah..
