Adobe Photoshop Online
If you remember Snipshot, you’ll understand why Adobe wants to take Photoshop online! They plan to launch a web-based version of Photoshop within six months. It will be a free, ad-supported site that will compete with other online photo apps.
The app will be obviously less powerful than the desktop version, but they still plan to exceed the current offerings on the market.
I think it’s reasonable for startups like PXN8, Fauxto, Picture2Life, Picnik and Snipshot to question if Adobe will plan on competing with them in areas beyond photo editing… It’s big news for anyone involved in rich web apps if you ask me!
Adobe’s announcement comes a few days after Google introduced its premium Google Apps service, charging $50/user/yr for companies to use Google’s various Ajax tools.
That proves the endless possibilities of Adobe’s Macromedia acquisition. It’ll also give those online photo editors something to worry about.
