UK Greens claim our planet will be hit by a Vista effect… They say that Vista’s DRM requirements will force many unnecessary hardware upgrades (why am I not surprised??), because according to Derek Wall, Green Party Male Principal Speaker:
“Vista requires more expensive and energy-hungry hardware, passing the cost on to consumers and the environment. This will also further exclude the poor from the latest technology, and impose burdensome costs on small and medium businesses who will be forced to enter another expensive upgrade cycle.“
“Microsoft are determined not to play fair and we hope the EU stand up to them. The best way of course is to insist that we purchase products that work with open rather than closed standards.“
Ok, but does it have to do with our planet you may ask?

One doesn’t always have access to an EXIF meta-data viewer, especially when traveling. But now, thanks to the Jeffrey’s On-line EXIF Viewer, you can check your EXIF, IPTC, XMP, etc. meta-data from a web browser.
No need to download or install anything. Your photo can either be somewhere on the Net or even on the local HD!! How does it work??

I own one of these and I have to say it’s a great little gadget. For some reason, wiht Valentine’s Day coming up, I am not surprised to see the iPods Shuffle coming in five brilliant colors to make your musical fashion statement

My buddy Tonio brings us this “Steal of the Day” - aka - a 4GB Kingston 133X Compact Flash card for your digital camera (or else…) B&H is offering the CF card for $99.95 and there is a rebate for $50 - meaning you get 4GB for $44.95 + shipping… Definitely a great deal!

While Apple Inc. and CISCO are fighting (see Part I & Part II) for the trademark rights of the iPhone in the US, a Canadian company based in Toronto - Comwave Telecom Inc. - the second largest VoIP service in Canada - is claiming the rights as rightful owner of the iPhone TM as well!
It seems that Comwave has been offering telecoms services under the iPhone name since 2004. According to Yuval Barzakay, CEO, the iPhone is a “very important” name to Comwave (I wonder why is that???) and will fight Apple & CISCO if they try to use this name…
